Online reputation, marketing services come of age – Appin Noida

In 2010, a medium-sized business in the retail industry was shocked to discover that one of its former employees had posted destructive comments on an industry-specific forum with an anonymous username.
Just a day later, the company’s name and business had begun to take a hit. Yet, the company hardly took any pro-active step to arrest and erase such damaging online presence — in the hope that it would fade away.
Rather, it magnified.
This is where experts are needed – and they are called online reputation managers.
If a brand is not controlled on the internet by its creator, someone else will, says Neha Kumar of Appin Technology Lab(ATL), a company that is into what it describes as “internet reputation marketing”.
In fact, she adds, if the reaction time is not swift, the dent to reputation of a firm can reach irreversible proportions.
But there is more to online reputation management than correcting perceptions. “Internet reputation marketing is not limited to just the handling of a crisis. It is more about the sustenance of a constructive and encouraging presence,” said Kumar.
ATL believes that in the absence of censorship of internet content, the need for internet reputation and marketing professionals would grow exponentially in the coming days.
Companies would either hire such professionals on their payroll or outsource their internet reputation and marketing to specialists, says an industry insider.
ATL has, in fact, developed several internet reputation and marketing programmes – each customised to suit the specific requirements of its clients. “We intend to capture the training and placement market as well as services market in the internet reputation marketing space,” Kumar said.
Based on the analysis of requests of its small and medium enterprise customers, ATL has reached the conclusion that while Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) marketing and Social Media Marketing (SMM) are important for customers, the need for internet reputation and marketing is even higher.
ATL now offers a six-month, job-oriented course in online reputation management and marketing that spans 216 hours of theory and practicals, and covers technology, software, public relations, writing and communication, though technical skills are the key.
The programme is set for an October launch globally across all ATL centres.
It is a comprehensive course that prepares a student for all requirements of small and medium enterprise’s online needs — brand, reputation and leads.
Students trained in this information-age course would be placed in companies that handle internet reputation and management in-house, or at ATL’s own services division.
Appin Technology Lab recommends that in order to contest disparagement, maintain integrity and improve revenue, businesses should invest in internet reputation and marketing services.
According to industry insiders, most people think of “search engine optimisation” when they think of internet marketing. Some advanced courses in developing nations offer search engine marketing covering Google and Facebook advertisement for lead generation.
Internationally, the concept of SMM is gaining ground in developed nations and on the sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, BlogSpot, WordPress and Wikipedia.
Such methods are collectively referred to as digital marketing, which
helps a company build a brand online.
ATL, through its 110-plus franchises spread across 70 cities, is also planning
to launch ‘Fort Appin IRM Services’ for small and medium enterprises. ATL’s staff will consult with the franchises to customise their management and various other needs.

Appin Technology Lab training students to reduce cyber security gap – Appin Delhi

India is an information security powerhouse, but a closer examination reveals a stark reality. The country’s official information security workforce consists of merely 556 specialists positioned at various levels in the Government, and this fact is supported by Minister of State for Telecommunications, Milind Deora, who accepted that cyber security attacks rose to 22,060 in 2012 from 23 in 2004.
Though cyber attacks on information technology infrastructure of government organisations rose marginally, Deora said in the Lok Sabha that cyber attacks, malware infection and targeted denial of service, are being increasingly reported by private users and government departments.
The mid-2000 marked the transition of computer/IT age to information-age with the advent of facebook and Google’s IPO, with that came requirements for manpower to counter the cyber security threats.
Around the same time, Appin Technology Lab started training students to gear up for these new-age careers in the information-age. Its flagship course was a 6-month diploma program in information security that enabled students to be ‘appin certified security expert’. It came up with centres in Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Odisha, Tripura and West Bengal to fulfill the country’s immediate need for cyber security professionals.
ATL spokesperson Neha said: “Teaching computer-age or industrial-age courses in colleges will not help students get job in the information-age. Our vocational programs are geared towards preparing the facebook denizens for careers that will shape our society in coming decade.”
While Cyber Security and Information Security (CS and IS) is all set to be introduced as a subject in higher and secondary education in the country, the government plans to hire around 5,000 information security experts who would impart training to create a larger dependable force of cyber experts across the country, top Government sources said.
The recent spate of cyber attacks on Indian installations is another cause for extreme concern. Interestingly, cyber warfare is fast emerging as the fifth domain of warfare and India’s preparedness to deal with it is wanting. With a view to plug the gaping hole, quite a few private players have emerged and are providing training to aspiring students and turning them into talented information security professionals from across India and ATL is one such training ground.
Apart from imparting new-age Information Security tools, ATL also delivers hands-on technical workshops. Powered by expert consultants from the industry, who pool their intellect and resources to formulate a comprehensive security study material, this new-age entity provides great opportunity for students who are looking to fashion a career in the InfoSec domain.

Appin Technology Lab unveils new B2B Franchise model – Appin Delhi

In today’s competitive environment, scores of professionals are seen escaping from their workspace and scurrying towards the promising world of franchising. These professionals apparently have three basic things in common. They are strained, burned out and eager to work for themselves, not make others rich.
It’s a rising trend and a phenomenon that is fast turning employees into entrepreneurs.
In exploring ways and means to utilize the expertise and experience they obtained in the corporate sector, many promising entrepreneurs look for prospects in the business-to-business franchise sector. These are people who want greater control of their professional lives. B2B franchises offer platforms for franchisees to make use of their abilities they have cultivated in marketing, sales, operations, management at the corporate level in their new business ownership roles.
The transformation can be a bit overwhelming, though. However, there are varying degrees of franchisor support processes that ease the transition route.
Delhi-based Appin Technology Lab’s spokesperson Neha Kumar points out, “Years of growing secure and at ease in the corporate environment make it difficult for franchisees to become accustomed to their new avatar as business owners. Initially, the going is tough but we provide all the necessary support. We help franchisees apply their skills and years of professional experience to their new business ventures by providing tools, backend support and developing training programmes. We basically provide mentorship and tutelage on how to use and sell their products and services.”
ATL is set to launch a very unique concept in the franchising Industry with its B2B franchise model, which encourages Marketing Professionals, IT Professionals, Govt officials, distributors, AMCs etc.. The aim of this Franchise model is to fulfill the need and address the pain point of SMEs and MSMEs with its different offerings such as- Internet Reputation & Marketing and diverse IT Services.

As per the National Cyber Security Policy, 2013, there is an immediate need of about five lakh Information security experts. The alarming shortage in the official information security workforce has led the Union HRD and Telecom Ministries to chart out a road map for safeguarding India’s cyber security architecture.
While Cyber Security and Information Security (CS & IS) is all set to be introduced as a subject in higher and secondary education in the country, the Government plans to hire around 5,000 information security experts who would impart training to create a larger dependable force of cyber experts across the country, top Government sources said. Comparatively, China has a voluminous 1.25 lakh cyber experts for its over 56 crore internet users, while the United States has around a one-lakh-strong force.
“Teaching computer-age or industrial-age courses in colleges will not help students get job in the information-age. Information security-course modules are the need of the hour,” said Neha of Appin Technology Lab.

Slump in IT training opens new doors for Appin Technology Labs – Appin Delhi

Appin information Security & internet reputation

For the last two decades, the Indian market has been entrenched strongly in the global IT market. However, the country’s IT sector is projected to reduce hiring plans by up to 22 percent to 150,000 in the current fiscal.
Industry sources say increasing automation of lower-end jobs and low attrition in the industry have contributed to this steep fall. Up until three years ago, 80 percent of hiring was centered on acquiring technical skills, but this has dropped to about 40 percent, with companies preferring to hire domain skills.
With global uncertainty, automation, and non-linear growth, one-third of the students run the risk of remaining unemployed. This disturbing trend has forced students to diversify from computer science and traditional IT segments.
While most of the IT training institutes are trying to adjust to the falling number of students by diversifying into non-IT related sectors, there are others like Appin Technology Labs which have stayed in the IT domain by adapting to the changing landscape.
With over 100 training institutes spanning the length and breadth of the country to its credit, ATL has been a major feeder company to the IT sector over the years.
Now, with decline in jobs and the resultant fall in student registration, the Delhi-based company has launched products and services on parallel tracks to soften the blow and at the same time, keep its franchises afloat.
ATL spokesperson Neha Kumar said, “Such innovative steps will bolster our efforts to become a larger player in emerging markets. Interestingly, these are uncharted territories where the prospect for expansion is exciting. We intend to make use of our influence and our strength to keep increasing our presence, revenue and profitability on a wider scale.”
ATL has also ventured into Cloud and virtual private server hosting. It serves the hosting needs for softwares and complex websites of SME’s by renting out globally located cloud and VPS infrastructure with a dedicated 24×7 support structure.
The company has also been growing as a major player in the Internet reputation management space. From branding to monitoring to firewalling, aReputation keeps a tab on the virtual conversation and helps reduce the impact and visibility of negative search results by creating and promoting positive messages about businesses.

Recently, ATL also launched ‘Fort Appin’, an Internet security software that defends computers against viruses, spam and identity theft. The software also has a special module built at Appin labs that does heuristic-based malware blocking and removal thereby providing zero-day protection even when the signatures have not been updated.

Indian IT training companies brave economic downturn storm - Appin Technology Lab

The Indian information technology training and education sector has been influential in driving the country's economy onto the express development curve. Their contribution to exports affecting the dollar value has also been significant. Up until recently, India's competitiveness and its global sway has been inspiring, especially in the Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia region. However, the rupee slump and the consequent economic downturn have had a weakening impact on the IT training and education sector.
India's IT sector is anticipated to reduce its hiring plans by up to 22 percent to 150,000 in the current fiscal year and it has left the training industry reeling. With global uncertainty, automation, and non-linear growth, one-third of students face the perils of unemployment.
Although the IT training as an industry still plays an important role in this downward spiral, most major players have realized that while they are able to sustain revenue and profits, future double-digit growth would happen only by refreshing the vision.
Appin Technology Lab have stayed put in Information Technology arena with their emphasis on the information-age security and solutions domain.

IT training firms focus on diversification, expanding operations – Appin Technology Lab

Information technology training institutes are diversifying and expanding operations as students show continued interest in the sector even as job prospects remain gloomy.
Key players in the IT training business like NIIT, Aptech and Appin Technology Lab (ATL) are diversifying and updating their courses to enhance employability in the sector.
NIIT, which has currently around 600 centres, plans to increase it to 700 by 2015, NIIT vice-president E. Venkatesan told reporters recently.
The institute is now offering courses in banking, business process outsourcing, insurance and some other sectors.
India IT sector is anticipated to reduce its hiring plans by up to 22 percent to 150,000 in the current fiscal year. With global uncertainty, automation, and non-linear growth, one-third of students face the perils of unemployment.
To minimize the impact of these challenges, most of the institutes are focusing on innovation and diversification.
With over 110 training institutes across the country, ATL has been a major feeder company to the IT sector over the last decade. With its presence in 70 cities globally, ATL has launched products and services on parallel tracks to ensure a multi-fold franchise and company growth even in testing times.
